A three day weekend....

Its been a terribly busy and messy three day weekend here on the farmstead.  Larry took off on Friday so that we could actually "finish" a project.  Seems there are SO many started and not a one finished.  So we tackled the bathroom.  As we have a composting toilet we wanted to make it feel like an outhouse only inhouse.  Came out with more of a sauna feel but we absolutely LOVE it.  We wanted to use the space above the bathroom for storage and finished it sort of as well.  After laying the wood on the top we decided that we would eventually close the space above it in completely with a door for access.  We also wanted to make this project as inexpensive as possible.  The wood for the walls and ceiling inside the bathroom are from skids/palletts.  Floor tiles less than $20.00 from lowes.  Rug $3.99, Toilet used $200.00, Shower stall complete with glass doors a freebie, Outlets and switches about $4.00, Bucket to hold dry compost $2.00, Cabinet from lowes a damage for less than $20.00, insulation and 2x4s maybe $40.00 mirror also a freebie, trash can $2.00 and the light from lowes for a whopping $8.00 a bi-fold door from lowes for $32.00, All of the black hardware also a freebie, the sink a find along the road, and fresh linens for maybe $15.00.  All and all im thinking maybe a grand total of....$430.00.  While Larry was hard at work here I took the time to put together the beginnings of the homeopathic cabinet.  This cabinet was a find along the road and it has been quite the piece!  I cannot understand anyone throwing such a thing out.  I have been collecting tincure and dry herb and oil bottles at Hobby Lobby every other week as they were half off for a year now and am finally ready to put them to use.  This is just a beginning there are so much more to put together.  Add to this the essential oils and we are ready for winter!
Be well,
Lisa

  1. Your "outhouse" looks great! And you did that in a weekend - sheesh! You need to come over to our future homestead and show us how to work so quickly! :D
I am absolutely in love with that cabinet! Who in their right mind would throw out such a nice thing??!! Oh well, their loss is your gain. I love that you are filling it with tinctures and stuff. I'm just getting into herbal medicines myself. I didn't know Hobby Lobby had those jars - now I need to make a trip over there. Thanks!
