Dirt....and 17 days to go!!

Wow time is really moving rather quickly here.  With only 17 days left until settlement I find myself dreaming often of the plans I have for the cottage.  Yes...we have switched from calling our home a cabin to a cottage.  With the layout, colors and design it just didnt seem much like a cabin but more of a cottage.  OH the plans I have!!  As for the dirt...I just couldnt keep myself from it!  I am so longing to have something green and growing in my presence I bought myself all of the supplies needed to grow some succelents.  GORGEOUS!  And I am truely going to enjoy them while we are waiting!  There is garlic in the garden...but its just not the same as an entire garden full of green and colorful veg!  I have taken on an extra day at work this week and again next so that is keeping me busy and spending more time away from home as I would like.  Thankfully tomorrow I can have some down time and have lunch and a little shopping with the girls in WV.  The weekend will find me working both days this week...bummer!  Well till next time!

Stress.....22 days to go!!

This blog is something I am hoping myself and my friends and family will look at and see the progress of this life changing challenge and choice we have made. And the one thing very important to me is that i am transparent in it all!  And that means the bad and ugly as well.  So here goes!!  Im stressed!!  Not to the point of giving up but to the point where im getting on my own nerves lately!  I guess its all of the changes happening at what seems like onced.  Work for me is picking up hugely as the warmer weather approaches. Which only means more hours away from home.  I feel so guilty with the little man having to be home by himself for 12 hours at a time.  Meals are hurried and no where near as healthy as we are used to.  Im sure we will pay the price for that!  The goat...Indie...we have decided to dry her up and oh how i miss that time in the barn with her.  I will surely miss her presence!  She will be visiting James and Katie for the next five months waiting on us.  The chooks are also going to be making their way there in a week or two as well.  We are selling so many of the things we wont need or want onced we get to the cabin so this already little empty home is feeling so desolate.  The weather is getting warmer and I am so aching to get outside and work in the dirt...but alas not this year onced again.  Its easter and I have to work the holiday!!  This is the first ever for our family and we are all struggling with it.  Trying to remember that I only have five more months of working and upheaving and things should finally settle down for us.  We did go and visit Firefly yesterday.  Had a great lunch and took a walk.  Hoping the stress I feel within myself calms soon!

Home....and only 26 days to go!

Its been a busy couple of days.  Im sitting here looking at the most beautiful red sunset thinking of how wonderful life is!  Monday and Tuesday I worked.  And today I spent the entire day with the girls, my mother in law and firefly.  We shopped and had lunch, so many laughs and made some great memories.  I am so very blessed to have such great daughters.  Even missed yoga this evening but they were all so very worth it.  Contimplating however a trip to kohls to use the ten dollar card I have before it expires.  Im so tired...but hey whats one more run for the evening.  The coming days will be busy with the holidays and so many places to go and a full work schedule.

Weekend.....29 days to go!

I love the weekends...the ones im off work that is!  A very busy Saturday.  I changed my shoes I know three different times and even found myself barefoot a good bit of the day.  Larry worked in the morning and home quickly to run out the door.  There was a primitive survival expo in WV we had been wanting to attend.  Met some friends there and enjoyed some good music, good company and plenty of sunshine!  Left there to visit James and Katie before heading to the land for a quick walk and more dreaming.  Then met the kids at a local rails and trails.  Our first family bike ride of the season.  The weather could not have been any nicer.  Got a little sunburn but oh so worth it.  Home and in bed early.  Those 8 miles on the bikes was quite alot for the beginning of a new season.  Looking forward to many more.  Up early this am and did some spring cleaning....aka purging of this very tiny home.  Not much more left in here to purge actually.  We had double of almost all appliances as we have two homes on our property.  As the time is drawing closer we decided it was time to sell some of the extras.  Cleaned up those for the new owners this evening.  Set out before lunch time to visit with a local couple we recently met.  They have been featured in Mother Earth News, they have lived off grid for nearly 20 years now.  Such an amazing visit!!  We purchased all of our solar needs and a gas on demand hot water heater from them for the cabin. Stopped for lunch and now home relaxing and readying for an evening walk.  The work week begins again tomorrow...blah!  Only five more months to go of that!!

Movie night and.....30 days to go!

Wow!!  Down to 30 days tomorrow we enter the twenties.  So excited!!  The day was rainy and dreary BUT warm still.  So loving the warmer weather and the sounds of the birds.  Spent the day home snuggled with the little man.  Did find time between rain showers to get in a two mile walk.  Ran an errand to the farm market to get some things for tomorrows bike ride.  Home and had a call asking if I could work.  Not exactly what I had in mind but the extra three and a half hours of pay will be worth it.  Larry picked me up from work and we headed over to spend the evening with my sister and her family for a movie night.  Watched the movie "Goodbye World"  AMAZING!!  Absolutely loved it.  Home late and on our way we had to be re-routed.  Yesterday on our walk we were passed by alot of fire trucks.  We walked to the source and found four miles from us was a huge field of fodder on fire.  Tonight...much worse...well not as worse as we had feared.  Two homes/farms down from us their barn was fully inflamed!  They lost the entire barn.  So thankful it wasnt the home, this plain family has about seven small children.  Time for some rest before a fun filled day tomorrow.

Things of Spring.....32 days to go!!

Today was just one of those days you cant help but know spring is here!  Freshly painted toes, new toe ring, capris, and a light sweater.  Up and around early to meet the girls for some girl time in town.  Shopping and lunch at Olive garden were enjoyed.  A quick run to the store for some fresh fruits, veggies and yogurts for the weekend.  Home and ready to relax.  Larry will be home late this evening so a chick flick is on the agenda after a walk with the little man.  Made a decision to dry up Indie (the goat) while everything is about to get so busy getting the cabin finished enough to be moved into in October.  Will also be taking the chooks to James and Katies until October.  We are planning on borrowing a friends buck and breeding indie again in June and July so she is ready to freshen when we are ready to move.  I will miss the fresh milk and the time I get to spend with her milking.  But I know this is the right decision for us at the time.  Down to only 32 days left until settlement...and while im counting..lolol...168 days left of work for me!  That all translates into 4 weeks and 4 days till settlement and 24 weeks and 2 days of work!  Whooo hooooo  cannot wait!!

The gift of beautiful days....33 To Go!

Today was just one of those days you sit back and just feel so blessed and complete over.  Woke early and enjoyed a cup of bulletproof coffee on the porch watching the sun rise.   Still very chilly out.  But tolerable with a sweater.  Fed and watered the livestock then cleaned up and ready for the day.  Tess came around nine and we headed out to spend the day in Hagerstown.  No real plan just intentional time together.  Such a soul mate of a friend!  Wandered around a few thrift stores and just a small few finds.  Made our way to the City Park and an Art Museum!  Gorgeous!!!  Slow and peaceful just as a day should be.  Lunch was onced again at the Rhubarb House...we did however attempt another new restaurant in town...but it just did not compare so we left for our always favored one!  Home with a little time for a quick nap and a two mile walk with Reggie before Larry came home.  We had plans to go out to do some banking this evening.  Also found our way to get Fireflies Easter things, some dog food and chicken feed, then a quick walk around Lowes...onced again we were blessed there with another kitchen cabinet which is priced at 58 dollars...some minor damage and a score of 10 dollars!!  Only five more cabinets to go and the kitchen is complete.  Praying they all find their way to the cabin in a discounted way.  Now home with some pizza a movie and some cuddle time.

Lisa

Time is Flying!

Seems I can hardly remember much of the last six days including today.  Found myself this morning wondering and trying so very hard to remember what day of the week...or weekend...this was!  Im not at all happy about any of this either!  I took a part time job to help increase the funds to complete the cabin...and while it is and will always remain "part time"...the way it has landed last week and this week made it very much seem like full time!  I have worked for the past six days straight for nine hours a day.  Im tired and so very much ready for the next six days off.  Praying this doesnt happen again.  However, if it does...I will surely survive.  Until October that is!!  On a good note.  I have been able to score some amazing deals for the cabin...several of our cabinets for the kitchen at 75% off and the tile for the back splash in the kitchen for 90% off.  And some Figs, Blueberries and Blackberries!  And Larry while at home without me has made himself quite resourceful as well.  He has pulled enough skids to complete the entire living room floor.  And just yesterday bought the water tanks we will need for the rain water system in the cabin for an amazing 90 dollars!  Settlement is only 35 days away and we are getting excited, aggrivated, and nervous all in one.  Yoga class tomorrow afternoon seems so long overdue and will hopefully allow me some time to just breath and rest.
