                                                                     For today:
                                                                April 27, 2015

Outside my window.....Some sun...Some Clouds and bright blue sky with a gentle breeze hoping the temp rises some before I head out to work in the garden.

I am thinking......So very many things come to mind this day every year...all of the what ifs...hows???  They pass....

I am thankful for.....Sundays....and the need for two pots of coffee...he and I!

Frocks and Frills......Yeah ....so I got cleaned up to take my sister out for her birthday...which also is the anniversary of my mothers death...Stopped to see the Lumberjack and he snapped a few pics....one is just silly weird so thought would share it too...lol.  Loved this new to me dress though.  Finding my main color onced again is navy blue!

I am creating.....More veranda loving....the black metal chairs are now a lovely bright white with a yellow table...

I am going.....To be celebrating this wild rumpus of a week every year from hence forth.  So much better of a balance than any year past.  And the best way to begin celebrating this week is to surround myself with good food and good people.   The day before was spent with so many good friends it was easy to forget what the week was about and that was the entire goal.  Lunch and coffee was had here at Pure and Simple an organic cafe with Marcy...enjoyed an amazing raw and vegan pina colada pie...

I am wondering.....If I will ever tire of spending afternoons at Nathan Millers Chocolates in the old Warehouse....most likely not as long as the company is as good as it was this day.  Love the architecure in this old building.

Quote of the week.....

I am hoping.....To have the garden fencing finished by weeks end!

I am learning.....To balance life and death.  This was the first year instead of only feeling sad I chose to celebrate.  My sisters birthday is the same day as the death of our mother.  For years I never celebrated her birthday with her and now feel so guilty for that.  Love her to pieces!!

Around the farmstead.....

In the kitchen......
The brown sugar bundt cake from pinterest....epic fail!!

The bleu cheese and red onion tart however....AMAZING!!  And a little peach blackberry sangria to go with it in the evening...

The best meals seem to be those that come right from out little farmstead....fresh eggs, goat milk, and wild asparagus...

I am pondering......

Pins on the agenda......                           Huevos Rancheros

                                                             Brussel sprout salad

Brown butter chewy ginger oatmeal cookies

I am reading......More like have read....started this novel on Monday past and finished over the weekend...waiting on the second in the series.  Totally loved every single minute of it.

One of my favorite things.....When he takes walks to hunt for morrels and comes home with the simplest of gifts....Turkey feathers!

Plans for the rest of the week......Hulu lesson on Tuesday night,  Lunch and a movie with the girls and little guy on Thursday, A weekend hooping party at Marcys home and Church on Sunday with maybe a bike ride on the trail.

For the love of all things green growing and nourishing....Spinach is growing its true leaves...kale has emerged as well as the pak choy!

Fleeting moments away from the farmstead......Maryland poultry swap, dinner and shopping with the Lumberjack, and a walk through our local farmers market where we shared a ramp dip and homemade crackers.....

One stone at a time.....He has officially begun the shop!  Its going to be a lengthy process.  Also we decided we like the kitchen table in the middle of the room rather than against the wall....so bought the wood to make another cabinet along the wall for more storage which is ALWAYS a good thing!-

April Love 2015....

Day 23....

When I was young...

.I had a mother. I lost her 37 years ago today. Today I allow myself the space to feel sad...a little lonely and ask myself plenty of what its....but tomorrow....tomorrow I wake with a fresh new breath and full of the life she would have wanted for me. I wake ready to love on my man....and hash it out at times....to fuss on my grown children at times always beaming with pride for them in my heart and to love on those precious grandbabies.....being so thankful for life every single day I take a breath ‪#‎aprillove2015‬

April Love 2015....

Day 20.....

My scent.....

I make my own blend of bergamot, patchouli and Clary sage....some hate it some love it....its earthy and grounding and reminds me of my mother....HE loves it and that's really all that matters!‪#‎aprillove2015‬

                                                             For Today
                                                         April 20, 2015

Outside my window.....Warm...slight breeze...clouds brewing up a good looking storm for the evening.

I am thinking.....That quite possibly the next vehicle we get will be a soft top jeep....love the wind blowing in a moving vehicle!

I am thankful for.....A loving and forgiving Husband....Backed right into a tree...a very small tree...that was NOT very giving!

Frocks and Frills.....The lumberjack so graciously decided to share his horrible head cold with me about mid week so for the weekend coffee date I so desperately needed I went a little more chill than I would have chosen.  Black flip flops...Grey summer weight skinny jeans...the softest workout tank....long fillagree silver leaf necklace...and a grey cardy as the evening wore on.  And the words on the tank..."If all else fails take a nap"...PERFECT!

I am creating.....Still working on the veranda...one living wall hanging complete two more to go and I really LOVE them...

I am going.....To never ever tire of spending time at the Amish greenhouse!!  Even when its overflowing with people I find myself getting lost in a dream!

I am wondering....Just exactly how long we will make it without the A/C units!

Quote of the week.....

I am hoping....To get to hold this little monkey butt at least weekly!  To take a weekly photo of him and watch him grow on here.  He is absolutely amazing!

I am learning......That its the little things that make the greatest of memories.  A simple lunch of a new recipe..."frito dip"...no not healthy but oh so good...with the girls and a movie in the afternoon.

Around the farmstead....UGH!!!!!!!!!  Well it would appear that our Pekin ducks are not good at reproducing!!  A new drake is on his way by fall but that wont get us any duck meat for the freezer this year!!

In the kitchen....Seriously the BEST kale salad I have ever had!  My version...3 cups cooked wild rice, 3 cups finely chopped kale, 1 cup chopped grapes, 1 cup crumbled feta, Dressing...1 chopped onion, 4 Tb honey, 4 Tb olive oil, 4 Tb water, 2 Tb apple cider vinegar, 1 Tb lemon juice blended with a stick blender.

And some yummy Miso Teriyaki salmon!

This pizza....AHHH yes this pizza!!  BBQ chicken pizza with red onions and smoked gouda!

Fresh Home grown chicken!!  Look at all those colors in the broth!  And theres nothing like your own dried herbs in a mortar and pestle!

And remember that Brussel Sprouts and Kale salad I pinned....well gave it a try to go with the chicken...OMG...I used some horseradish cheese instead of the parmessan....its so delicious!  Your mouth just pops with flavor and its so stinking good for you all those raw veggies!!

I am pondering.....Hulu lessons....yep im taking the plunge!

Pins on the agenda.....

One of my favorite things.....I've said it before and for sure will say it again...BOWL FOOD!!!  No matter the meat its always so good and sooooo healthy!  Fresh made saurkraut, fresh made sour cream, last years salsa, cheese, avocado and seasoned chicken breast!  YUMMY...

Plans for the rest of the week....Monday a trip to Frederick with the sister for a dr appt and thrown in a few extras for fun....Tuesday night the first Hulu Dancing Lesson....Errands on Wednesday and lunch with Tess at Nathan Millers Chocolates, Lunch date with the Sister to celebrate her Birthday on Thursday to Flying Pie then an evening with a bottle of wine and a chinese lantern and box of tissues in the evening, Dinner date with the Lumberjack at the river with pappy foods and plastic toy boats on Friday night, Farm Swap in Maryland on Saturday, and Sunday A Market Faire with the Lumberjack at a local fort and an evening family visit..  Yep let the wild rumpus of the busiest week of our summer begin!

For the love of all things green growing and nourishing.....Half of the garden is fenced in now for the other half to be cleared of all of the branches and finished.  The Elderberries have been planted, mostly all of the spring crops as well.  Hoping to get the Red, Black and Golden raspberries in this week as well.

Fleeting moments away from the farmstead.....3 hour coffee date with my kindred!
