We take family days every year. Some years are more than others and even larger trips than others. However, with the cottage being built and the land purchased and so much more work needing to be done to accomplish this we were only able to work one in this year thus far. And kept it closer to home. We went to the Smithsonian and a few memorials for the day and dinner afterwards. We are hoping to get in one more yet this season. So with that said...I am blowing the blog with family pics of the day. Enjoy,

The Thyme has come! This next season of our lives promises to be full of plenty of ups and downs and much physical, mental and emotional work. Larry and I are setting out to the desires of our hearts and the calling of Yashua! We have had this dream in our hearts for many years and we are arriving at the door of opportunity. With the children grown and married and us still young we are going full on in the spirit of faith. Come along and enjoy the Wild Thymes ahead with us!

Exhaustingly good day...
Ahhh to finally be able to sit for a moment is true bliss! Up way early to do the chores then head out to our local chapter conference of Weston A Price. As always the food was absolutely amazing! And the speaker this year was Sarah Ballyntine from the Paleo Mom. Very good indeed. And held at a Organic Orchard near Gettysburg. Beautiful setting as well. Also this year I took my Sister and was able to introduce to the world of REAL foods! Not quite sure how on board I have her yet but plenty of time ahead for more convincing! Goodies were brought home as well. A really cute tee for myself with a goat on it of course! And some feta dill salmon burgers sustainably caught and local farmers. Some organic local maple cream! Larry built me the chicken coop today while I was gone and it turned out so nice. Pics of that on Monday. Hes out now trying to catch the buggers and get them cooped up! Better him than I thats for sure. Temps are falling pretty drastically and the wind is howling around the cottage. Looking forward to next weekends project...THE WOOD STOVE!.

This week in my kitchen....Blog hop....Thursday October 2, 2014...
http://beautythatmoves.typepad.com/beauty_that_moves/2014/10/thi.html
Its been a very tasty and filling week here on the farmstead. Roasted cauliflower of which we devoured with no leftovers! And that oil dispenser....oh that oil dispenser. I wondered when I bought it how I would like it. Now my only regret was not buying TWO in case this one ever came up broken. The way it drizzles out that olive oil is just awesome.
I found myself making more warming and comforts foods this week. The temps here fluctuated quite alot but the trees and the evenings made you feel just a little cooler no matter the temps. Balsmatic roasted carrotts found there way into one of the meals. Cooked in cast iron they were to die for. Even Larry who thought he would never like a cooked carrot agreed.
And just this morning I put together a pot of Brunswick Stew to be enjoyed this evening and possibly tomorrow for lunch. Using my new cuisinart pot made it very delightful. Larry bought me this pot for our anniversary back in March and I am so happy to have it unpcaked and ready for the cool weather use.
One of my favorite things lately is onced again starting a compost pile. We are working on cutting the trees to build the garden and have already started the compost pile in the garden.

Yarn Along....October 1, 2014....

http://www.gsheller.com/2014/10/yarn-along-196.html
Joining Jenny with the Yarn Along today. STILL working on the navy blue cardigan. So ready to feel like im getting someplace. As with most sweaters that are solid color I always feel like im dragging along. Going to be upping the work the next couple of days on it to move onto the sleeves. That will help some. As for reading. I have only just pulled this book from the many books on the bookshelves here at the farmstead. As we have been un-packing I have found a hundred or more than are left unread. Excited to begin this one. Eggs in the coffee, sheep in the corn by Marjorie Myers Douglas.
Be well,
Lisa
